Day 1 | Chanda Devi Saraf School
Day 1 at Chanda Devi Saraf School was all about wishes and dreams. Students were given a piece of paper and were asked to make a drawing depicting their fantasies and aspirations.
The students were a bit hesitant but eventually made beautiful drawings.
After the drawing session we reflected on the work we had done by sitting in a circle and putting our feet close to each other. Everyone felt exceptionally good and shared their drawings. The students spoke without any hesitation.
Day 2 | Chanda Devi Saraf School
For the second day we focused on investigating students' creative knowledge of 3-dimentional art. We gave them colorful sheets of paper, scissors and some glue to dive into the puddle of innovation. We asked them to make puppets out of it.
It was interesting to see that the students made figurative, animal like as well as architectural puppets that reflected their personal selves.
By the end of the session we sat as a group talking about what, why and how we made our small little puppets.
During the end, we spent sometime in displaying the work for the school to see.
Day 3 | Chanda Devi Saraf School
The final day we collected a lot of newspapers and started the day by making newspaper collages. It was fascinating to see that all the students were incredibly surprised to visually grasping to their own creative skills using the puppet making technique they learnt in the previous session.
There was a lot of chaos but witnessing their indulgence level in the creative world was all we needed for the success of these sessions.
By the end of the class, we collectively stuck all the pieces together on the board and wall and made a unified galaxy where we had spaceships, aircrafts, aliens, trees, animals, and many other interesting things.
What fascinated me was the kind of messages the students portrayed through their work.
